Her 2nd Chance, Inc. Secures Grant from the Truist Foundation to Support Social Enterprise Employment Opportunities for Women in Recovery
Boca Raton, FL — January 9, 2025 — Her 2nd Chance, Inc. (H2C), a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to empowering women in recovery from substance use through employment in a safe and supportive environment, is proud to announce it has been awarded a $30,000 grant from the Truist Foundation. This essential funding will support expanding the organization’s social enterprise e-commerce efforts, enabling additional women to be hired for its e-commerce online store hosted on Shopify.
Since 2018, Her 2nd Chance has sold its personalized gifts and handcrafted items on Etsy, successfully connecting with customers who appreciate the quality of their products and the mission behind them. In 2024, the organization developed its own Shopify store to minimize its fees, provide top-tier customer service, and establish control over its branding and marketing strategies.
“Our grant from the Truist Foundation will allow us to hire two women in recovery to work specifically on orders from our Shopify platform,” said Erin Sabin, Executive Director of Her 2nd Chance. “The platform expands our current social enterprise model, allowing us to create more job opportunities for women rebuilding their lives after substance use while ensuring every dollar customers spend goes directly to supporting our mission. We are deeply grateful to the Foundation for this investment in our mission and believing in the power of employment to drive positive change.”
The positions offer a chance to learn marketable e-commerce skills and provide a steady income while fostering confidence and independence, which are vital components of long-term recovery.
Her 2nd Chance’s products include a variety of personalized gifts, each handmade with care and designed to spread joy while supporting an important cause. The Shopify store provides an additional platform to showcase these items and expand the organization’s reach to a broader customer base.
