New one-year track aims to help more women reenter the workforce after substance use.

BOCA RATON, FL (June 4, 2025) Her 2nd Chance, a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to supporting women in recovery from substance use, is proud to announce the launch of its Transitional Employment Program—a 12-month initiative offering paid work, wellness support and career mentorship to women rebuilding their lives after addiction.

“Employment is one of the strongest predictors of sustained recovery,” notes the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). “Work reinforces accountability, promotes self-efficacy, and offers stability.”

The program aims to bridge the gap between early recovery and sustainable community employment. Participants gain real-world job experience through the organization’s e-commerce gift shops and fulfillment services.  Additionally, women partake in wellness workshops, daily guided meditations, team-building activities, and individualized career mentorship.

A cornerstone of the new initiative is Recovery Capital—a SAMHSA-endorsed model that focuses on building the personal, social, community, and cultural resources that sustain long-term recovery.

“Recovery is about more than sobriety—it’s about rebuilding a life filled with purpose, connection, and dignity,” said Kristen Bibikos, Program Manager for Her 2nd Chance. “This program is our most comprehensive effort yet to give women the tools, support, and second chance they deserve.”

Participants progress through three-month phases, beginning with onboarding and foundational job training. Later stages include opportunities for advanced work responsibilities and further skills development, culminating in assistance with resume writing, interview preparation, and job search support.

“Before Her 2nd Chance, I didn’t think anyone would ever trust me with a job again. Now I’m showing up every day, learning new skills, and feeling proud of myself. I finally believe I have a future—and this program is a huge part of that,” says Audra Feinstein, a participant currently in phase two of the program."

Her 2nd Chance is enrolling participants and seeking community partners to provide employment placements.
